What Is Meant By Indoor Air Quality?

Mahwah NJ Indoor Air Quality Inspection and Testing Services

Indoor Air Quality or IAQ refers to the standard of the air that surrounds you and your
family in your home. Often the air we breathe is polluted. Polluted air can result in
allergies or respiratory issues and sometimes to long term health conditions. Mold Testing
NJ-NY offers Bergen County NJ homeowners certified testing for Volatile Organic Compounds,
Mold-based Volatile Organic Compounds, Formaldehyde and Particulates. Our inspections are
done to indicate the need for testing and possibly remediation. Sometimes we find that the
air you are breathing is clean and safe. We offer certified inspections and testing, we do
not remediate. We do recommend remediation when necessary.  Mold Testing NJ-NY offers our
Indoor Air Quality testing to Bergen County NJ and nearby area homeowners.

Definitions of Indoor Air Quality

VOC

Volatile Organic Compunds are gases that rise from certain solids and liquids. VOC can
include chemicals. Concentrations of these compounds are higher indoors than outdoors
and can pollute the air in your home. These compounds can present adverse health effects
with prolonged exposure. Mold Testing NJ-NY routinely tests for VOCs.

MVOC

Mold-based Volatile Organic Compounds are gases emitted by mold. The level of these gases
should be measured by taking an air survey to determine the level of active mold growth.
We also routinely test for MVOCs.

Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is an air pollutant consisting of carbon, oxygen and hydrogen. If found inside
a home it is generally in a greater concentration than outside. We routinely test for
formaldehyde.

Particulates

Particulates are a mixture of solid and liquid droplets floating in the air. There has been
mention of particulates in relation to Covid-19. Particulates can be released into the air
directly from a specific source, while others are formed by chemical reactions. This is
also something we routinely test for.

These compounds are found in many household products and furnishings and are therefore
escaping into the air you breathe.

Indoor Air Quality Should Be Tested Regularly

Being aware of the quality of the air you breathe is important for the health and well being
of those living under your roof. Testing Indoor Air Quality alerts you to the adverse
quality of the atmosphere in your home. A member of your family may be plagued by allergies
or respiratory problems and you can’t figure out why. It could be the air they are
breathing and it could lead to more serious illness. Call Mold Testing NJ-NY today for a
complete certified Indoor Air Quality inspection. We can be reached at (201) 658-8881. We
are located in Bergen County NJ, but our services are available in Hudson, Passaic and Essex
counties as well.
